Forms VI

Description

Forms VI showcases the dynamic motion work of award winning design studio Carbon. Following the success of their Pause Fest Motion Response, the studios have teamed up once again to deliver a compelling audiovisual collaboration.

The film follows a single thread as it courses through a desolate environment and becomes intwined with other fibres. These are slowly woven into an intricate human form. Inspired by Carbon’s interpretation, Mount have focussed their soundtrack around the human voice.

Forms V

Description

Forms V features the brooding motion work of Charlotte based, 3D artist Peter Godshall. Peter’s gold entwined landscape is beautifully contrasted by a cool glacial light. A sea of glowing particles emerge from the fractured surface and float into the air, drawn towards the mysterious beacon.

Mount recorded hundreds of seeds, beans and marbles to mimic the gentle movement of particles atop the rugged landscape. These delicate sounds sit amongst dark, volcanic atmospheres, as inspired by the vast, otherworldly setting of the visual.

Pause Fest 2018 – Lift in the Moment

Description

Pause Fest 2018 motion response created in collaboration with animation studio Carbon.

It’s confronting to step into the unknown.

Reassurance or validation is sought from anywhere we can find it; at least for that bit confidence to move forward. Building on experiences, exploring new environments, adapting to the unfamiliar, all becomes part and parcel of progress.

But what if it all gets too much? Finding yourself and fitting in, compromise and keeping up?

Sometimes you just need to pull yourself out of it, appreciate the people around you, and enjoy every moment. Because life should be more uplifting.

Forms IV

Description

Forms IV features the inimitable aesthetic of multidisciplinary artist and designer Davy Evans. Davy combines analogue and digital techniques to create vibrant abstract imagery. Often using experimental photographic methods, light and liquid to replicate form and distortions, inspired by natural phenomena.

Influenced by the artists analogue approach, Mount’s soundtrack is largely improvised and centres around an intimate piano progression. Playing off the visual’s glacial tones, the duo have combined ambient washes with delicate tuned percussion to create a deeply meditative accompaniment.

Forms III

Description

Forms III explores the sci-fi motion work of LA based, designer and art director Kenneth Robin. Kenneth has reimagined the practice of a secret 19th Century art movement who collected and classified algae. The ‘Diatomists’ would arrange their findings in intricate patterns, viewable only through a microscope.

Inspired by the visual’s dystopian aesthetic, Mount have combined cold, mechanical textures with heavy impacts in a deeply ethereal atmosphere. The soundtrack gently builds, slowly gathering momentum to the point of devastating climax at which point the viewer is pulled back into reality.

Forms II

Description

Forms II showcases the vibrant motion work of LA based designer Bryant Nichols. The artists’s warped figures bend and contort, twisting around one another to form abstract human structures.

Inspired by Bryant’s alternate reality, Mount have created an entirely synthesised soundtrack layering rich, modulating textures to create an unsettling atmosphere. The effect is hypnotic yet disorientating.
